After months of harsh winds, rain, cold and darkness, we are all craving the warmth of the sun and spending quality time outside. The sun begins to show its face around the end of March when the schools break up for their Easter holidays, so this is an ideal time to ditch those winter jackets for swimming trunks and whisk the family away for a much-needed vacation.
There are many great family holiday destinations to head for Easter, but here at Prestige we always like to recommend the gorgeous sunny Spanish region of Murcia or the breathtaking Algarve in Portugal. Both of these wonderful destinations boast a gorgeous climate and plenty to see and do for the active family.
Murcia
Located a stone’s throw from the shimmering Mediterranean Sea to the southwest of Spain, this is a beautiful city that has a spectacular climate particularly during spring.
We Recommend - La Manga Club Resort
This splendid resort is a sports and leisure haven. Here you will find dozens of fantastic sports and activities for you and the little ones to try during your stay. Whether this a simple game of tennis on one of their 28 courts or something slightly more alternative like Gaelic football, you are sure to have a barrel of laughs and enjoy finally feeling the warmth on your skin again.
The resort offers fun training courses and events for almost every sport that you could think of (for both children and adults) – you may well find a talent you never know you had here! It is also an opportunity for your children to make new friends and participate in some healthy competition.
The Region
Murcia has a brilliant coastline to explore with picturesque beaches, sand dunes, rock vegetation and salt marshes. You can spend your days hiking around these areas, playing water sports in the sea or simply unwinding on the beach with a good book. Bliss.
The Algarve
Our other favourite Easter family holiday destination is The Algarve, which is Portugal’s southernmost region and basked in sunshine throughout spring. Here you will find a dramatic landscape with golden beaches, rugged cliffs, emerald waters and sandy coves – remember to pack a camera!
We Recommend – Pine Cliffs Resort
This resort is magnificent for families due to the enormous range of leisure activities available to visitors. There is an excellent kids club for the young ones that is constructed around two charming wooden pirate ships, where they can enjoy paddling pools, mini golf, bouncy castles and more. The welcoming and lively staff help to make this a lovely area for your young brood.
The junior club offers fun programmes that include basketball, tennis, darts, crossbow and aim shooting and other engaging activities. Like La Manga, this is a great way to hone their skills, meet their peers and participate in friendly competition.
Those who are looking to seriously develop their skills can attend the excellent golf and tennis academies. There academies offer expert coaching through a series of courses and clinics.
Praia da Falesia
The surrounding area is a real gem with a whopping 6km of inviting golden beaches overlooking the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. There is a peaceful atmosphere around the welcoming local town and you are sure to get into the relaxed Portuguese way of life whilst here.
