4x Etna Adventures for Teens | A Family Guide
Etna is exploding with family fun! Flights to Catania airport, shuttles organised in advance and some of these adventures make an unforgettable family holiday!
(firmenpresse) - Etna has loads to offer in terms of a fun-filled family adventure holiday. Here are some of our favourite activities sure to bring the family together with a lot of laughs and excitement this summer!
Etnavventura
Offers an adventure wonderland in the trees, with tree climbing, rope ladder walking and cable slides at different levels of difficulty to cater to everyone. Don’t be surprised if Team Mum and Dad have even more of a laugh than Team Kids or Team Teens!
If you ever tire of the treetop playground, you can also try your hand at horse riding, mountain biking (everything is available for rent) and trekking. Make a day of it and bring a picnic – you can even book a picnic table! Open from July to September and located on the Southern slopes of Mount Etna, it’s close to the Rifiuigio Sapienza cable car. This is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
Mount Etna Cable Car
The cable car ascends almost 600m to 2500m above sea level, suspending you over heaps and mounds of lava in your little cabin. Once at the top of the cable car, you can continue upwards by 4x4 over lunar terrain and wild bumps, all the way to the volcano’s peak (perhaps not for those who get travel sick!).
While there are places to eat at both the top and bottom of the cable car, if the weather is to be good we recommend packing a picnic – all the better to enjoy the stunning views!
Le Gole di Alcantara
A 20 metre deep gorge located to the North of Mt Etna on the way to Francavilla, Le Gole di Alcantara is a must-do for adventurous teens. The river of the same name carved this gorge out of lava, leaving this beauty.
Hire a pair of waterproof trousers and wade your way through the gorge’s freezing waters (probably best enjoyed in August!).
Etna Land
On the East coast is Etna Land, which is a water park, dinosaur park and theme park all in the same place! With laser shows, a suspended cable car and adventure rides including the crocodile rapids, it has something for everyone.
Although it does get pretty hectic in August, it’s definitely worth a visit. It has tonnes to see and do and has plenty of places to grab a bite to eat between rides.
How to Get There
With frequent flights from several UK airports to Catania, airport shuttles are the next hurdle.
