RoodMicrotec grows faster than global semiconductor market
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
General state of affairs
In the first four months of 2011, RoodMicrotec's turnover rose by over 15%
compared to the same period last year, exceeding the growth of the global
semiconductor market of approx. 9% in the first four months of 2011 compared to
the same period last year.
The increase was mainly due to Test and Failure & Technology Analysis, which
realised over 20% turnover growth. In Supply Chain Management the increase was
over 10%. Qualification & Reliability lagged behind with an approx. 10%
decrease, while Test Engineering remained stable.
The equipment load in the first four months increased by over 10%; in some
sectors there is still spare capacity for future orders.
Applications also increased further in the period referred to above. This is an
important development with a view to the second half of 2011.
The gross margin increased by approx. 5% due to lower purchasing costs, while
personnel costs increased marginally due to the higher turnover. This resulted
in a 4% increase of operating costs.
Due to the developments described, the result for the first four months of 2011
was very positive.
Organisation
Mr Norbert Wirth has joined the board of RoodMicrotec. We are convinced that his
broad experience will contribute significantly to the company's development.
As of April this year we have discontinued short-time working; our engineers are
currently fully deployed. If needed, we may use this scheme again in the future,
but we presently have no plans to do so.
Financial position
The company's solvency improved further in recent months due to the positive
result in combination with a lower balance sheet total caused by a decrease of
short-term debts and outstanding claims on debtors.
The improvement of our net debt position, our working capital and debt ratio we
are in a very strong position.
Proposal to appoint supervisory director
RoodMicrotec intends to appoint Mr W.H.C. (Wil) Fluit as a member of the
supervisory board.
Mr Fluit has over 40 years' experience in the international semiconductor
industry. For example, he worked as Director & Vice President Assembly & Test
Memory Division with Siemens Semiconductors Germany and as Managing Director,

Currently he is active as an independent consultant, and Advisory Board Member
of Advanced Packaging Centre in The Netherlands.
The board of management and the supervisory board are pleased to welcome Mr

benefit to RoodMicrotec.

appreciate his strong direction of the company's growth. This is why I am proud
that he is willing to lend his services to RoodMicrotec,' Mr Philip Nijenhuis,
CEO of RoodMicrotec, said.
'In view of RoodMicrotec's ambitions for the next few years we welcome this
