USG People seeking to put and keep the spotlight on diversity
Almere, 26 May 2011 - Today USG People signed the 'Talent to the Top' Charter in
the presence of Marja van Bijsterveldt, the Dutch minister of Education, Culture
and Science. By becoming a signatory to the charter USG People wants to
highlight the importance of promoting diversity in general and within its own
organisation in particular.
Executive Board member Albert Jan Jongsma: "Diversity policy is a familiar topic
in both our temporary placement business and within our internal organisation.
It goes beyond finding creative ways to encourage labour participation by female
executives and women in general to not discriminating on grounds of age, race,
sexual orientation, etc. What is more, we actively strive to ensure the right
talent is employed in the right position. When it comes to the number of women
in senior positions our organisation has been scoring above-average for years,
as evidenced by the fact that 53% of our middle managers and 39% of our senior
managers are women. One example is Ms. Geirnaerdt who joined the Executive Board
in 2010 as our new Chief Financial Officer."
Esther Raats-Coster, director of the Talent to the Top foundation, is delighted
that USG People is signing up. "It is great to be able to add USG People to our
growing list of signatories, a strong brand which has committed itself to
greater creativity and innovation by striving for greater diversity within its
teams. In doing so USG People is setting a good example for its peers and other
organisations, as well as making itself a more attractive employer. Talent to
the Top is very proud to welcome this new signatory."
The Talent to the Top foundation seeks to facilitate and stimulate governments,
employers and women in senior management positions themselves to have the
conviction to promote the hiring, promotion and retention of women in senior
positions. By signing the Talent to the Top Charter developed by the foundation
employers make a voluntary but binding commitment to an effective long-term
gender diversity policy.
