Thomson Reuters Announces 2011 Extel Survey Results
London, 8 June 2011 - Thomson Reuters today announced the results of the 38th
annual Thomson Reuters Extel Survey at a lunchtime ceremony in London's
Guildhall. Considered the leading benchmark for excellence in investment banking
and asset management, the pan-European survey highlights achievement across the
buyside, sellside and corporate communities.
The 2011 Thomson Reuters Extel Survey captured deeper, more analytical data from
all the key market practitioners than ever before. Voting was conducted
primarily online and ran from 7 March to 6 May 2011. It reflects the
contribution of over 2,250 buyside firms, 2,500 analysts from 240 brokerage
firms/research houses and nearly 750 of Europe's largest quoted companies
worldwide. All data, votes received and methodology applied were independently
checked and verified by Deloitte.
Highlights of the key winners from the 2011 Survey are:

The 2011 Thomson Reuters Extel Survey identified a number of industry trends,
which include:
* Corporate Access services and advice is more highly valued by asset managers
than ever before.
* The buyside puts independent thinking as the most prized attribute they look
for from the sellside.
* Fund managers place a great reliance on CEO/CFO meetings to better evaluate
companies and want those meetings to take place at the buysides' offices.
* 84% of companies in Europe do not currently use social media in their
investor relations programs but 34% believe it will become increasingly
influential.

becomes more and more important. The increase in data - up over 20% this year
alone - reflects the competitive industry environment in which companies seek
investment dollars, brokers chase commission fees and the buyside compelling

Today's Thomson Reuters Extel award ceremony was hosted by Lord Michael Grade in
London's Guildhall and drew nearly 450 members of the European financial
community. Presenters included David Buik, Partner, BGC Partners; Luke Johnson,
Chairman of Risk Capital Partners; Julie Meyer, CEO of Ariadne Capital and Ian
King, Business and City Editor, The Times.
The Thomson Reuters Extel Survey bestows over 400 awards covering equity
sectors, economics and strategy, equity derivatives, and emerging markets
categories. The role of insightful analysts and strategists, especially those
who more closely identified upcoming market turbulence, is ever more highly
prized.
