Imtech: 105 million euro energy management contracts in Germany
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Gouda - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) has obtained several new
energy management contracts with industrial producers like Voith Paper, Andritz
Hydro, SKF, Böhringer, Freudenberg and Winkelmann in Germany, with a combined
value of over 105 million euro. Energy efficiency will be improved considerably
at these companies, resulting in the realisation of substantial energy savings -
from a minimum of 20% to a maximum of 40%. These new orders confirm Imtech's
strong position in the European energy market.
Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: 'Imtech is a leading player in the European
energy market. Our range of services focuses on both energy savings and
sustainable energy production. Last year, Imtech realised revenue of over 1
billion euro in the European energy market. Examples include: decentralised
power plants, co-generation plants, the production of energy from waste or
biomass, thermal energy and energy-efficient offices ('green offices'). In
addition, Imtech is the preeminent European specialist in the area of energy
contracting. The new energy orders for a large number of industrial producers in
Germany serve as proof of the market's faith in our added value.'
Energy contracting model: numerous advantages
Working on the basis of an energy contracting model, Imtech assumes complete
responsibility for many years for the optimum provision, maintenance and
management of all energy supplies, including the management of emission credits,
on behalf of its customers (industrial customers, commercial services providers,
property managers, hospitals, etc.). In addition, Imtech optimises energy
performance through the integration of the entire energy process in all
operational systems and processes and through possible adaptations to the energy
infrastructure. During the term of the contracts, this not only leads to high
energy efficiency, but also to a substantial reduction in emissions and cost
savings. Naturally, in this process, Imtech takes the (energy) requirements of
the users into account and guarantees that the energy supplies are of the
highest possible quality.
New industrial energy management orders in Germany
Imtech is realising a new shared power plant for Voith Paper (supplier to the
international paper industry) and Andritz Hydro (international producer of
hydro-electric power stations), both located in Ravensburg. Throughout the 15-
year contract term, Imtech will provide both companies with the required energy
for the heating and steam for production processes in all buildings and
production facilities. Bundling the energy requirements of both customers
enables the realisation of the best energy-efficient solutions.
In Hannover, pharmaceutical company Böhringer is establishing a European centre
for research into and development of animal vaccines. For a period of 15 years,
Imtech will bear responsibility for all energy supplies and the provision of
heat, steam, cold, compressed air, water and electrical energy to all research
facilities.
Imtech is providing SKF Sealing Solutions, a Leverkusen-based subsidiary of the
SKF Group (the world's largest manufacturer of rolling bearings), with a
comprehensive integrated energy solution. During a 10-year period, the energy
costs will be substantially reduced, parts of the technical energy
infrastructure will be renewed and at the same time all energy supplies will be
concentrated around SKF's strategic core activities.
For the new plant of Freudenberg (international supplier to the automotive
industry) in Berlin, Imtech is realising a high-tech power plant with the
accompanying technical infrastructure and an energy management solution for a
period of 10 years.
Imtech has already been successfully active for several years in the area of
energy management for Winkelmann (another international supplier to the
automotive industry) in Ahlen. After surpassing the energy savings estimate in
the existing contract, Imtech has landed a second 10-year energy management
contract aimed at further improving Winkelmann's energy efficiency.
Recently Imtech announced that the company has obtained an order worth 400
million euro to provide energy contracting including the energy management in
800 buildings, mainly used by a large logistics service provider in Germany.
