This way, each group can take on the runs they want while meeting up regularly on the mountain.

The skiing in Morzine is perfect for moving novices quickly through the beginner stage into intermediate. Start off on the gentle slopes above the resort, or the equally sedate blues and greens at Pleney, or head over to the neighbouring resort of Les Gets for its excellent beginner runs.
Once you’ve mastered these you’ll discover that you are at the gateway of the vast Portes du Soleil skiing area with a good network of blues and some easier reds to try.
Speed up the Learning Process with Classes
If you’re trying it for the first time, you’ll want to shed your beginner status as quickly as possible. The best way to do this is to book yourself some lessons. French ESF ski and snowboarding classes are always excellent, as well as a lot of fun, and you can book and pay for them online before you arrive.
One of the major benefits of being with an instructor is that they will always take you to the best snow in the resort, so ski with them in the morning and then impress your friends with your local knowledge in the afternoon.
Snow Boarding Novices
This isn’t just a great place to learn to ski; Avoriaz – above Morzine – was one of the birth places of snowboarding and has a fantastic range of freestyle parks for beginner boarders to try out.
Those who aren’t quite up to tricks yet will love the quieter wide slopes of Morzine where boarders can hone their skills before taking on the challenges of the rest of the Portes du Soleil area.
If you feel confident by the end of the week, venture up to The Chapelle park in Avoriaz for a good range of beginner kickers, rails and boxes. There are two drag lifts in the park so you won’t spend too much time waiting between runs.
How to Get There
Morzine is actually one of the most accessible resorts in the Alps with flights into Geneva, Chambéry, Lyon and Turin. Fly to Geneva and the transfer to the resort takes just 75 minutes.
