ECCT to Deploy StoneGate IPS Across 50 Financial Institutions

MSSP to standardize banks and credit unions on StoneGate IPS
ATLANTA - August 10, 2011 - Network security provider Stonesoft today announced
that ECCT, a leading managed security services provider (MSSP), will deploy the
StoneGate IPS across 50 regional and community banks and credit unions by end of
year. The MSSP has already successfully deployed or is in the process of
deploying the StoneGate IPS in 33 financial institutions.
Based in Long Island, New York, ECCT delivers managed security services and
solutions to more than 500 financial institutions across the country, including
companies like Peoples Alliance FCU, Arrowpointe FCU and Gulf Coast Community
FCU. The company recently sought a new intrusion prevention system (IPS) partner
who could provide a high level of protection, performance and stability while
supporting a multi-tenancy environment.
The technical requirements extended beyond multi-tenancy to include a solution
and partner that demonstrated the ability to rapidly respond to new,
sophisticated evasion techniques such as advanced evasion techniques. However,
ECCT also wanted to keep costs low.
"We wanted to improve our evasion protection without increasing our costs.
Financial institutions are facing greater security threats and we needed to
guarantee protection against those threats without breaking our client's
budgets. The StoneGate IPS appliance has allowed us to do that quickly and
easily and at a cost that's in line with our requirements," said Gerard Heege

After evaluating vendors like StillSecure, Cisco and Fortinet, ECCT selected
Stonesoft as their IPS partner in early June 2011. Within the past six weeks,
the company has rolled the StoneGate IPS out to 11 credit unions. The
appliance's "drop and go" functionality has resulted in an average deployment
time of less than 48 hours.
Since these initial deployments, ECCT's engineers and clients are already
enjoying the benefits of StoneGate's ease of use. StoneGate's single management
console has made administration activities like monitoring, configurations and
updates easier and faster to execute. Specific features, like the ability to
split user domains and customize layouts, as well as advanced filtering options,
have been ideally suited for ECCT's managed security services provider
environment. The solution's anti-evasion capabilities also assure ECCT that
their clients are protected against advanced threats like advanced evasion
techniques (AET).
Armed with simplified management and advanced threat protection, ECCT plans to
leverage the StoneGate IPS as it diversifies its client base to include the
healthcare sector. Like financial institutions, healthcare organizations are
facing tighter security requirements amidst increasingly complex network
infrastructures.
