Ge:Net erects the first tilt-up steel lattice mast with 90m height in Iran
(PresseBox) - In Iran wind energy is becoming more and more important. Additionally to the oil and automobile industry the wind power will be a further economic factor and will be expanded considerably.
Ge:Net has been assigned by a German customer to erect a 90m tilt-up steel lattice mast for the first time in north eastern Iran.
In order to determine economic feasibility it is necessary to explore the wind potential precisely. One of the most efficient ways to determine the wind potential is erecting a meteorological mast. The most precise results for further wind potential estimation are expected when measuring at hub height.
Using tilt-up measurement masts the installation costs can be kept at a reasonable level, more local workers can be involved instead of specially trained industrial climbers. Another advantage of the tilt-up method is the installation of the measurement instruments like anemometers and wind vanes on the ground. All instruments can be mounted and gauged fully on the ground; this is faster and more reliable than installing the measurement system on the vertical mast.
The main mast will be tilted up with a second smaller one at the pivot point. Concrete foundations are not needed; this saves four weeks waiting time (drying time of concrete) and a second site visit. The mast foundation consists of a steel plate. The guy wire foundations are also made of steel plates which are placed two metres below ground. The tilt-up steel lattice mast from Ge:Net is considerably lighter than other masts and can be shipped worldwide.
