New in the Elparts range: The oil-stop cable solves a familiar problem
(PresseBox) - The problem is a common one. As the result of a design flaw, oil is able to infiltrate the length of the cable harness and reach the control unit due to the capillary effect (which describes how liquids spread out in tight gaps, tubes and pipes). In this event, individual parts can be damaged, which can eventually lead to the failure of the electronics.
Herth+Buss has taken care of this problem, and is the first on the independent automotive parts market to supply an appropriate oil-stop cable, which is stocked in the Elparts product range. The irritation of oil loss and the associated repair costs have been solved ? fine copper sleeves are incorporated into both lines of the oil-stop cable, while the lines themselves are also wrapped in heat-shrink tubing. Replacing the cable is also easier than you might think. The harness is detached from the sensor before the oil-stop cable from Herth+Buss is inserted between the connection on the sensor and the old harness.
Which engines are affected? All Mercedes-Benz petrol engines with engine codes M111, M271 and M272. Among others, this includes C-, CLK-, CLS- and E-Class models, in addition to the Sprinter series.
