KMW offers Sensors and Services based on Thin-film Technology

ID: 577311

(PresseBox) - The competence of Kaufbeurer Mikrosysteme Wiedemann GmbH (KMW) includes research, development, design and manufacture of sensors based on thin-film technology. At the Sensor + Test in Nuremberg, KMW, the long-established partner and supplier of Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH (STW), will be in public view for the first time.

KMW offers expertise in the areas of thin-film technology, multi-sensor technology as well as assembly and connection technology and uses a modern infrastructure including the in-house clean room for production. The first focus for KMW will be leveraging the benefits of thin-film sensors in the major systems of large diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines, and for measuring pressure in hydrogen. On-engine, KMW sensors can measure temperatures and pressure during complete combustion cycles direct in the cylinder/combustion chamber, in fuel injection systems (including rail pressure) and on both the turbine and compressor sides of turbochargers. In hydrogen applications, KMW sensors are already in use in the hydrogen supply infrastructure and under development for use in fuel cells.

Wolfgang Pelzel, CEO of KMW, emphasizes the advantages of thin-film sensors for measuring pressure, strain, temperature and position in these applications: "KMW made thin-film sensors available for control, monitoring, diagnostic and safety systems as well as for products and processes in the manufacturing industry. Our goal is to create solutions that significantly increase the productivity of our customers?. He also emphasizes the customer focus and ability of KMW to realize customer specific developments and production: "The simple structures of the sensor elements can be relatively easily modified to meet the requirements of the customer and then mass-produced to combine economical production with precise and reliable data acquisition."
