Tavira

The town lies on the Gilão River and features pretty old churches, cobbled streets, and some nice little restaurants and bars. Gibraltar
This one is a bit of a way from Faro but certainly worth the effort if you’re itching to see the renowned Barbary apes – the last wild monkeys left in Europe. These curious creatures reside on the area’s famous Rock and it’s a real experience to encounter them – but watch out for their wandering hands as you make your way up to the summit, as they’re known to steal food, hats, lunchboxes and even cameras if left unattended.
As a British territory, Gibraltar also boasts a unique blending of cultures, bringing the British lifestyle to a place just a few miles from the North African coastline. But if you go for any reason (other than the cheap alcohol!) go for the extraordinary views from atop the Rock of Gibraltar.
