Municipal alliance chooses Telenor
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
(Fornebu, 25 August 2011) Procurement alliance, FK Nord, has opted for Telenor
as their supplier of voice services for mobile, fixed line and IP telephony for
the next two years, with the option to renew for an additional two years. The
contract is worth approximately NOK 75 million annually.
FK Nord is the procurement alliance for the county authorities of Møre og
Romsdal, Sør and Nord Trøndelag, Nordland and Finnmark, and includes 70
municipalities. The contract also covers all upper secondary schools and dental
care clinics in the five participating county authorities, along with the office
of the county governor in Nord Trøndelag.
The contract includes call time as well as the purchase of corporate mobile
solutions and security solutions, and free internal calls within the five county
authorities.
"In choosing our provider of voice services we have prioritised implementation,
follow-up, quality and functionality as important parameters in addition to
price. The contract with Telenor also offers us access to round the clock
customer service, our own customer team and local service through the Telenor
dealer system," says Roar Pedersen, Procurement Manager at Nord Trøndelag County
Authority, who is responsible for telephony agreements in FK Nord.
"It is also imperative that we have a telecommunications partner that, by way of
its total solutions and mindset, can help to further develop our member
municipalities and make them more efficient. This will be a living and dynamic
contract capable of incorporating new technology and new services. Telenor will
run an optimisation project to look after this aspect for the procurement
alliance," says Pedersen.
He adds that it is also important to the alliance partners that the contract
meets national requirements for ethical trade and social dumping, and that there
are environmental requirements imposed on both the provider and the
deliverables.
More efficient municipalities
"The agreement with FK Nord is comprehensive and long-term, and is of great
significance to our presence in the northern and north-western parts of Norway.
At the same time, we see major potential for development which is very
exciting," says Abraham Foss, Head of Telenor Business Norway.
The contract also opens up opportunities for implementing Unified
Communications. These are solutions that will help improve efficiency and
interaction.
"We are noticing that the public sector is becoming more and more aware of how
modern telephony and unified communication can help make work processes more
efficient. We are looking forward to being involved in further developing the
municipalities in this direction," adds Foss.
