Illinois, US – Author, Jalesa Morrison, has announced the upcoming release of her first book, Four Years of Despair, about the struggles a young girl faces with mental illness. Four Years of Despair is a fictional tale which offers an eye-opening look at the state of mental health in America. It follows the main character, Jaunell Morris, as she goes from a happy child growing up in southern Illinois, to a troubled teen with violent behavior and suicidal thoughts being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Most people who suffer from bipolar disorder are given medications that offered little help and plenty of harmful side effects and Jaunell was no different. This often prompts them to stop taking their medications which causes even more problems and, in Jaunell’s case, this meant getting into fights, truancy, suicide attempts and multiple hospitalizations.
With little help from those she trusted most, our main character seemed hopeless. Her mother, Joan Morris, decided to research long-term residential center which could promise positive results for Jaunell. The only problem: cost. As with most mental health care facilities in the US, price was a prohibitive factor. What happens next? Does Jaunell get the help she so desperately needs? You will have to read the book to find out. With an official release date of April 30th, Four Years of Despair will be available for purchase on the Amazon marketplace.
