Many companies offer affordable SEO packages, but that doesn’t mean they’re worthy of your business. Here are the questions you should ask before hiring one.

One of the most efficient ways to achieve all that is to invest in an affordable SEO package with a reputable company. You’ll want to make sure that you pick a good business that knows what they’re doing – after all, a bad one could seriously mess up your existing search traffic and cost you money for no reason.

To avoid all those potential negative repercussions and to ensure that you find the affordable SEO package of your dreams, you’ll want to make sure you ask any companies you’re thinking of hiring the following questions.

“What type of work will you do?”

This could seem like a no-brainer, but this is one of the most important questions you should be asking. At the very least, a company should be putting effort into a technical SEO audit of your website (this includes finding out how easily your site can be searched and indexed, evaluating site navigation, discovering 404 pages and redirect problems, etc.). If they don’t offer this service, they likely aren’t worth your time or money.

“Can you guarantee my website will rank as number one for a major search term?”

This one is a trick question – if the company you’re considering hiring says yes, run far away as quickly as you possibly can. They’re lying to you and are likely just trying to make a sale as it’s impossible for anyone to guarantee a number one ranking (and definitely not in any specific amount of time). Google’s exact algorithm is a mystery to everyone except Google, which means that they are also the only ones who knows how and when it will change (which also means that penalties can sometimes seem to come out of nowhere).

There are many affordable SEO packages out there that specify they will help you increase your search traffic consistently over time – that’s a totally fine statement, as that is a realistic goal. However, avoid any companies that guarantee spots for keyword rankings – they’re not looking to help you, they’re looking for a quick sale.





“How often will I receive reports and what will they include?”

Of course, each affordable SEO package will be slightly different, but on the whole you should expect to receive one about every month (although most companies will be happy to accommodate you if you want a higher or lower frequency). Your report should include search traffic and rankings, conversions and an overall summary of activities. Anything less than that, and you should rethink hiring that company.

It can be tempting to snap up the first affordable SEO package that comes your way, but it pays in the long run to make sure the company offering it is reputable, reliable and, most importantly of all, on your side. Asking the preceding questions is a great start to ensuring that the business you decide to do, err, business with is one that’s going to benefit you.
