This is a world record for massproducedcells manufactured according to common industrial standards!The module, which has an output of 249 W, has already been tested andcertified by an independentinstitute, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems inFreiburg. It was created in Q-Cells' ownmodule test centre in Thalheim, where a team has been researching theinteraction at the interfacebetween the solar cell and the module for almost a year. In 2008,Q-Cells invested around ?50 millionto construct a pilot plant, the so-called "Technikum", in which themodule test line was set up. Thefindings obtained there were bundled and provided to the customers.As a result, the customers canfurther benefit from the potential contained in cells manufactured byQ-Cells, thus increasing thecompetitiveness of cell and module manufacturers. Q-Cells istherefore adding another significantcomponent to its existing range of services, which is alreadydistinguished from competitors by aunique after-sales service.With an efficiency of up to 17%, the cells, produced in Q-Cells'existing production lines, are amongthe best polycrystalline cells currently available. Thehigh-performance cell is expected to be launchedon the market in 2010 after the development phase has been finished.Q-Cells foresees furtherincreases in the efficiency rating by then. "The efficiencies alreadyachieved are only the beginning.We are of course delighted with this achievement, which is after alla world record. Particularly in suchdifficult times as the present, this is evidence that we shouldcontinue to focus strongly on technology.demonstrates the technological capabilities and advantages that we atQ-Cells and more generally in acountry such as Germany have, which are increasingly important toensure competitiveness, andespecially compared to more commoditised producers using standardtechnologies in low-costcountries. We intend to build on these advantages going forward",commented Anton Milner, Chairmanof the Executive Board at Q-Cells SE.About Q-Cells SEEstablished in 1999, Q-Cells is now one of the biggest photovoltaicscompanies in the world. In 2008,the company manufactured solar cells and thin-film modules with atotal output of 574 Megawatt peak(MWp). At Q-Cells, more than 250 scientists and engineers are workingon enhancing the technology inorder to achieve the company's aim: reducing the costs ofphotovoltaics quickly and permanently, andmaking the technology affordable and competitive. In addition to theactivities in the core business,several subsidiaries of Q-Cells SE have been producing photovoltaicmodules based on various thin-filmtechnologies since mid-2008. With Q-Cells International GmbH, thecompany also plans and developslarge photovoltaic systems. The company currently has around 2,600employees. Q-Cells SE iscurrently commissioning a production facility in Malaysia, hasbranches in Hong Kong, China andJapan and is listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange (QCE; ISINDE0005558662) and in the Germantechnology index TecDAX.Contact information:Q-Cells SEOT ThalheimSonnenallee 17 - 21D-06766 Bitterfeld-WolfenInvestor Relations:Stefan LissnerTel.: +49 - (0)3494 - 6699 10101investor(at)q-cells.comPublic Relations:Markus WieserTel.: +49 - (0)3494 - 6699 10121presse(at)q-cells.com --- End of Message ---Q-Cells SE OT Thalheim, Sonnenallee 17-21 Bitterfeld-Wolfen GermanyWKN: 555866; ISIN: DE0005558662; Index: CDAX, GEX, Prime All Share, TecDAX;Listed: Prime Standard in Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse, Freiverkehr in Bayerische Börse München, Freiverkehr in Börse Berlin, Freiverkehr in Börse Düsseldorf, Freiverkehr in Hanseatische Wertpapierbörse zu Hamburg, Freiverkehr in Börse Stuttgart, Regulierter Markt in Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse;
