Fun, Free and Fabulous: Málaga Attractions That Won’t Break the Budget

ID: 595864

A flight to Málaga, airport transfers and accommodation might be all you need to shell out for if you follow these tips for free activities in the city.

(firmenpresse) - It’s always great to get out of the country, and Brits are especially lucky to have a wide range of European destinations right on their doorstep, including the beautiful Costa del Sol. Still, with flights to places like Málaga, airport transfers, hotels and other costs to consider, planning a holiday can feel disheartening. However, there’s no need to worry – as this article will demonstrate, there’s plenty of great stuff to do in the area for no money at all. Read on to learn about some of what’s on offer.

A Perfect Holiday Destination

In the past, many visitors simply flew in, grabbed quick Málaga Airport transfers and headed out to resorts further along the coast. Recent years have seen increased interest in the city itself, and it’s easy to see why.
Firstly, it’s blessed with a great climate. It’s only 80 miles north of Africa and on the gorgeous Mediterranean, which means summers are long and hot and winters are mild in Málaga. Secondly, its long and illustrious history leaves the city absolutely overflowing with things to see and do. Indeed, the centre has been compared to an open-air museum – perfect for the traveller on a budget.

Beaches

We’ll start with one of the main reasons so many tourists spend summers in Spain: the excellent beaches. The Andalusian capital is blessed with a variety of great spots, such as Playa de la Misericordia in the west, Playa de la Malagueta in the centre and Playa Las Acacias in the east. Each is family friendly and well-appointed, with facilities including play areas, food and bars.

Top Tip: If you like even your sunbathing with a little culture, go a little further out to visit the old fishing town of Pedregalejo in the east.

Montes de Málaga Nature Park

Follow up your beach trip with some more natural beauty in these stunning mountains. There are plenty of picnic spots and even traditional restaurants, but perhaps the best thing about hiking here is that it’s so much quieter than the town – even in the height of summer.

Centre for Contemporary Art (CAC)

Between online information and talking to drivers on Málaga Airport transfers, it’d be hard not to hear about the city’s impressive artistic heritage. The CAC is free to enter and is a great opportunity to explore this side of the city. It features works from up and coming Andalusian artists all the way to established names like Damien Hirst.

Picasso Museum

Follow up with a trip to the city’s most well-known and celebrated museum. The father of cubism, Picasso remains one of the area’s most famous sons even decades after his death. The artist wished for his work to be displayed in his birth city, and the impressive collection here houses over 200 pieces.

Remember: The museum is so popular that entry is only free for the last two hours of opening on a Sunday, so make sure to plan ahead!

How to Get There

High demand means many airlines offer a lot of flights from the UK, and prices are usually very reasonable, although they are higher in the busy season. Before you leave, book any Málaga Airport transfers to help keep your journey fun and fuss-free.

With so much on offer at so little cost, Málaga is without doubt one of the best places to visit for a low-cost getaway.
