Level measurement in continuous casting molds

The moisture content in the coke and the iron ore/concentrate being fed to a blast furnace is of great importance for thermal control of the blast furnace process. An online moisture measurement at the bunker provides real-time information on the moisture content before the material enters the blast furnace.

Depending on the application the source activity can be reduced by as much as 80% while the measurement performance remains unchanged. This is a major advantage especially when aged sources become less effective, the high-sensitive detectors from Berthold Technologies can still do the measurement. In this way the source life can be almost always increased by 10 or more years, saving costs and improving the utilization of radioactive sources.
