Growth of Rock Candy Media Defies Economic Environment

RCM's first employee, Caitlin Fegley, was hired part-time a year after the business was started as Account/Social Media Manager. Creative Director Art Lopez joined RCM in September 2010. By February 2011, RCM had moved into its own offices on Spicewood Springs Road in north central Austin.
In addition to Fegley and Lopez, RCM now includes Production Director Teresa Ramirez, Junior Designer and ad copywriter Abby Kaplan, and Developer Chris Linden. "Having quality in-house staff committed to a superior product is key to our current success," said Annie Jones.
Jones' vision has served to propel RCM from approximately $500,000 in sales last year to the current $1.7 million annual sales projection. RCM also added a division to their company, Rock Candy Life, in February 2010. Managed by Kaplan, Rock Candy Life extends the RCM mission to eco-friendly products with eye-catching design. The first products were PVC-free, chlorine-free, recyclable shower curtains. Initial positive response has turned into both local and international sales that continue to climb.
The success of Rock Candy Life, say Jones, is because the staff of Rock Candy Media practices what it preaches -- good, comprehensive marketing. Lopez adds, "We pride ourselves in getting work done with quick turnarounds. We treat each client (and their projects) as if they're our most important client; we communicate with them every step of the way and make sure their project is in good hands and delivered to them with enough time to spare."
