Son Bou holiday

(firmenpresse) - Set on the beautiful south coast of Menorca, Son Bou is a firm favourite with return visitors to
the island. Why? It could be the stunning beaches, it could be the intriguing historical
attractions, it could be the magnificent natural surroundings, or it could be the superb villa
accommodation – but we suspect it’s all of those reasons, and many more, that make a Son
Bou holiday so appealing to such a wide demographic.

While for many people, the place needs little introduction as, once experienced, a Son Bou
holiday often becomes a regular annual event. Because let’s face it: it’s fairly hard to
improve on perfection! But for those who have not yet had the pleasure, we’ve put together a
few of the highlights of this lovely little resort so you’ll know just what you can expect.

Highlights of a Son Bou Holiday

Whether you’re bringing the family, coming for a romantic getaway, or just popping over for a
few days rest and relaxation with friends, this place really does have it all.

Beaches

The first thing you need to know is that the resort has one of the very best beaches on
Menorca. Not only is it the longest, with around two and a half miles of wide, golden sands, it
is also extremely well facilitated. The crystal clear waters are very family friendly due to the
gently shelving nature of the beach, and it’s gained a coveted Blue Flag status for its
cleanliness, safety and environmental standards. There’s all manner of water sports
available and the beach is also lined with cafes and restaurants.

As well as the main resort beach, it’s very easy to get to some of quieter, lesser-known
coves and beaches of the surrounding area if you want to explore or enjoy a bit of variety.

Nature

For nature lovers, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into the great outdoors here.
The resort backs on to a protected wetland conservation area, which plays host to a plethora

of visiting and migratory species of nesting and breeding birds. Encompassing about 80
hectares of marshland, between the resort itself and the sand dunes behind it, El Prat was
formerly used for rice growing, but today is a truly thriving ecological site and a world-
renowned place for bird-watchers. Even if you’re not an avid twitcher, the wetlands are a
wonderful place to take a stroll, and it’s hard not to get into the spirit of bird watching once
you’re there!

History

As with everywhere around Menorca, there’s plenty of history on display if you want to find
out more about the area’s heritage. You can visit the remains of the Roman Basilica, which
dates back to around 300-400AD and is located less than 10 minutes to the east. The resort
is also only about 10 km from the prehistoric settlement of Torre d’en Galmes, a fascinating
Talayotic site that’s well worth a visit.

A Choice of Locations

If you’re considering a getaway to this lovely place, as you can see there’s not much chance
you’ll be disappointed – no matter what your holiday style. The availability of
accommodation, too, is appealing and you can choose to stay in San Jaime right at the
beach, or perhaps at gorgeous Torre Soli Nou, which is nestled into the hillside above it. It’s
a hard decision, but the good news is, there’s actually no wrong choice!
