Fast IL and RL Measurement on Cables with MPO/MTP Connectors

(PresseBox) - When testing MPO/MTP connectors, the OptoTest OP940-CSW automatically switches from one channel to another. In just 40 seconds, it measures both the insertion loss (IL) and the important but often neglected return loss (RL) of twelve fibers. For this purpose, the OP940-CSW uses a wide dynamic range of -10 dB to -80 dB which allows it to adjust the attenuation in the reference setup. This provides very accurate results, especially for RL measurements, and ensures a high quality of service.

Thanks to its fast and precise measurements, the device, which is available at LASER COMPONENTS, not only saves valuable time during fiber installation in data centers; its compact design also makes work much easier: The cables are connected directly to the MPO/MTP interface without cumbersome fanouts. The technician no longer needs to use mandrels or index-matching gel.
