Feelbelt continues crowdfunding at Indiegogo
After the recent Kickstarter campaign, the company enters the second round of crowdfunding at Indiegogo
(firmenpresse) - Potsdam, 13th of August 2020 – Today, the Potsdam-based company Feelbelt launched an Indiegogo campaign for their haptic feedback gadget of the same name. The campaign is intended to build on the success of the Kickstarter campaign, which ran from April to June 2020 and reached more than 300% of the funding target. The founders of Feelbelt are now going a step further and launching an “InDemand” campaign on the globally active crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The Feelbelt is available at a limited pre-order price of 219€; the later retail price will be 329€, so the campaign grants a discount of over 33%. The gadget is used in the fields of gaming, VR, music and film and is based on a patented process that generates haptic feedback synchronously to every sound frequency.
For its users, the Feelbelt allows to feel the entire frequency spectrum. It is worn around the waist and transmits all audio frequencies from 1-20,000Hz directly to the skin, opening up a new dimension of perception of multimedia content for gamers and music lovers. The patented technology uses ten impulse generators to create a complex feedback from all directions. Unlike the Feelbelt, comparable products have only one pulse generator and transmit only bass.
“Our vision is to create a special entertainment factor. In the field of gaming, we offer extreme added value – both for professional gamers, for whom the Feelbelt offers a tactical advantage, as well as for hobby gamers, who experience their games even more realistically and intensively,” says CEO and co-founder Benjamin Heese. “In addition to the entertainment factor, we are creating an access to the immersion experience especially for people with hearing impairments and for deaf people, as for the first time all frequencies of the content can be felt. This also allows them to differentiate the emotional situation in gaming, film and music, which normal hearing people take for granted,” explains Heese.
With the Indiegogo campaign, which runs until October, the startup is pursuing the goal of increasing the awareness of its product innovation worldwide among early adopters in the tech and gaming scene as well as in the inclusion sector. As in the previous Kickstarter campaign, project supporters can pre-order the Feelbelt and will receive it after the first production phase is completed.
“Especially for startups like us, who are about to start their first production wave, Indiegogo is now a good opportunity to get a good estimate of the number of units to be produced in our first large production wave with the final product,” says CEO Heese. Even though the young company has been working successfully with local partners form Berlin in development and production since the end of 2018, the renewed campaign is an important step towards financing the first wave of production and establishing it on the market.
The gadget’s haptic feedback adds a new dimension of perception to the classic gaming experience. Users can exploit their full potential in the two worlds of gaming and VR and dive even deeper into virtual adventures. The more emotional and realistic perception of games through the Feelbelt leads to better performance through increased reaction speed and concentration. The Feelbelt also offers a new experience for music and film lovers, as the haptic feedback creates a replica of the atmosphere of concerts and presents actions even more realistically.
Two new application areas of the Feelbelt are currently being developed: Neuroscience and Healing. To what extent the Feelbelt is related to brain activity and the activation of subconscious emotions, is currently being investigated in a large-scale study by a neuroscience institute in Germany. The first test results do already show a very interesting prognosis.
