(PresseBox) - The animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl? supported by the Company for the Promotion of Animal Welfare in Livestock Production Ltd, is already planning the 3rd programme phase for 2021 to 2023.
As part of the animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl? companies and associations from agriculture, the meat sector and grocery retail have together made it their objective to promote more humane and more sustainable meat production since 2015. With the development of a comprehensive programme to promote and record animal welfare at the agricultural production level through to slaughter and the operation of the animal welfare initiative as an industry solution, they have taken a significant step towards greater animal welfare in livestock farming.
With the start of the 1st programme phase of the animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl? in 2015, Tentacontrol GmbH is listed as an approved inspection body by the supporting organisation Company for the Promotion of Animal Welfare in Livestock Production Ltd. Since then the auditors of Tentacontrol GmbH have checked the compliance with the requirements of the ?Initiative Tierwohl? in more than 4,000 unannounced inspections on pig and poultry farms.
Participating farms in poultry and pig farming can choose between different optional requirements in addition to the basic requirements that every ITW farm must fulfil. For compliance with the basic requirements and possible optional requirements, each participating farm receives an animal welfare payment from the supporting organisation for the duration of the programme.
The 2nd programme phase of the animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl? expires at the end of 2020, so the transition to the 3rd programme phase of the animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl? is already being planned. In this programme phase, participating slaughterhouses will also be subject to regular announced inspections.
Tentacontrol GmbH is also listed for the 3rd programme phase as an approved inspection body with the supporting company and offers, in addition to the inspections on the agricultural ITW farms, its inspection activities at the participating slaughterhouses within the framework of the animal welfare initiative ?Initiative Tierwohl nationwide and europewide.
