(PresseBox) - The ICANN process of implementing new Top Level Domains progresses. Registrations at the new Top Level Domains like the film-domain might beginn at 4th quarter of 2012.
The sponsor of the film-domains sees these advantages of film-domains:
"The .film namespace will provide benefits over .com and ccTLD alternatives by restricting registration to official owners of film titles and registered industry professionals only.
The .film namespace will:
# Provide an intuitive and easy to navigate domain name system
# Preserve the legacy of film libraries in perpetuity
# Address film piracy and copyright infringement.
The .film namespace for industry members only will ensure that no longer will industry members be forced into marketing decisions such as movietitle-themovie.com when they can simplify the situation with movietitle.film instead.
With the .film namespace established, no longer would the industry or consumers be forced to search for films such as E.T. using www.et20.com or Million Dollar Baby using milliondollarbabymovie.warnerbros.com/intro.html as natural and authoritative locations will exist for these on the web."
