KG(firmenpresse) - Isabellenhütte Heusler has significantly shortened the distances with the construction of a new logistics hall and a new access road. With a total investment of four million euros, the company is clearly committed to the Dillenburg site.
Sufficient space for goods, efficiency in production through short distances and more security on the company premises: The construction measures completed in the summer of 2020 will improve Isabellenhütte's daily operations in several respects.
Due to its support function, intelligent logistics is jointly responsible for the success of a company. The new hall provides 2,900 m² of storage space on four floors, with a total of 25,500 m3 of space having been converted. Three loading ramps ensure the smooth transfer of goods to the outside. Since the hall is located directly next to the highly frequented production building for components and measurement technology, transport distances on the site are considerably shortened. Now the goods are easily transported via a connecting bridge between the two buildings.
A new picking system for the passive components works in parallel and communicates as well. This ensures so-called multi-order picking and up to 16 orders can be picked simultaneously. Using a so-called Pick-by-Light system, employees are shown which product is to be picked up and where it is to be stored. The picking principle has been adapted from an ergonomic point of view and now ensures a goods-to-man principle. This enabled the basic storage area to be reduced by 70% and the storage capacity to be increased by 50%. At the same time, bending activities during order picking are completely eliminated.
The entire new logistics hall is an aviation security area. Isabellenhütte is certified as an "Authorised Authorised Economic Operator."
Dr. Felix Heusler, managing director of Isabellenhütte emphasizes: "We stand by the headquarters of our company and will continue to market our innovative solutions worldwide from Dillenburg.
From the ramp to the road
The external truck traffic has been completely relocated from the company premises, which has defused a danger area and, as a side effect, created additional parking space.
Isabellenhütte has existed as a copper smelter since the 15th century, has been owned by the Heusler family since 1827 and is now in its eighth generation of family management. Today the company with 900 employees produces
electrical resistance materials, thermoelectric materials for temperature measurement, passive components for the automotive, electrical and electronics industries as well as measurement systems for various industrial sectors.
