TÜV Rheinland certifies respirators
TÜV Rheinland InterCert: Notified body for certification of FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 masks / Certification enables CE marking as Personal Protective Equipment and thus access to the European market
(PresseBox) - TÜV Rheinland InterCert is Notified Body for the certification of particle-filtering masks. Manufacturers can now have their products, also known as respirators, tested and certified in the laboratories of TÜV Rheinland. For certification by the international testing service provider's experts, the products must comply with the requirements of the relevant Regulation 2016/425 for Personal Protective Equipment and the EN 149 standard. Manufacturers are then allowed to mark the masks with a CE mark and place them on the European market as Personal Protective Equipment. TÜV Rheinland?s status as a Notified Body and its worldwide laboratory network make it an important point of contact for all companies that manufacture or sell particle-filtering masks. Further information on the designation is available on the NANDO website of the European Union. NANDO stands for ?New Approach Notified and Designated Organizations?.
Particle filtering masks are also called FFP1, FFP2 or FFP3 masks, depending on the permeability of the filter. They are used for self-protection against droplets and aerosols. In contrast to medical face masks, these masks are not considered a medical product but personal protective equipment. They may only be certified by a Notified Body recognized by the European Union. At TÜV Rheinland, the national company in Hungary ? TÜV Rheinland InterCert ? is the Notified Body.
