New functionality in Scope Customs allows direct data exchange between German ATLAS and Swiss e-dec customs procedures
(PresseBox) - All goods moving between Germany and Switzerland must be declared to customs on both sides of the border. Until recently, this meant double the workload due to duplicate data entry. Riege Software has now added functionality to the Customs module in Scope that makes this extra work unnecessary. Scope now enables direct data exchange between the German ATLAS and Swiss e-dec Customs modules.
Export data becomes import data
Normally the mandatory procedure required identical data to be entered separately in both the exporting and importing countries. New functionality in the Scope Customs modules allows this data to be seamlessly transferred from the export procedure of the sending country to the import procedure of the receiving country once the export declaration has been registered. This new process spotlights another advantage when shipping from Switzerland to Germany. ?Since no summary declaration is required for the transport route from Switzerland to Germany, the processes are once again streamlined and thus additionally accelerated,? said Jordi Barreiros, Branch Manager Riege Software Switzerland.
Relevant data is automatically identical
In the new application, all usable customs-relevant data is transferred from the export procedure to the downstream import procedure. In addition to the shipment data, this includes in particular the data of the parties involved and the goods shipped, the multiple manual entry of which is not only extremely time-consuming, but also especially prone to errors. By avoiding double data entry in two processes, a single data set is checked for plausibility in Scope and is therefore automatically identical in both customs declarations. This eliminates one of the most common sources of error, the manual multiple entry of data.
Transfer to another branch
In the case of freight forwarders or customs brokers operating several branches, the customs departments involved frequently work at different locations. Therefore, the data can be transferred to another branch at any time. As soon as the declaration has been taken over on the import side, the customs declarant has the option of combining the transferred data with an existing template and the data contained therein. This means that the declaration is as good as complete. The effort required for final, manually inserted details becomes minimal.
Noticeable improvement in Customs processing
Scope customers such as exporto, who specialize in customs clearance, appreciate the new functionality, as do freight forwarders with full-service operations in border traffic between Germany and Switzerland. Translog International, a member of the Scope Community since 2017, Möbelspedition Fröde, since 2018, and Ristelhueber, since 2020, have experienced the advantages of shipment processing with integrated customs clearance from just one system. Thanks to the direct data transfer between ATLAS and e-dec, they save up to 50 percent processing time for customs declarations.
