BridgeNet International Awarded Contract by Airservices Australia to Visualize Required Navigation Performance (RNP) at Top 9 Airports

(firmenpresse) - NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/11 -- BridgeNet International, which specializes in airport environmental, airspace and procedure modeling, was awarded a three-year contract by Airservices Australia to use VOLANS for visualization of Required Navigation Performance (RNP) procedures. Airservices joins IATA's consulting group as the second organization to utilize VOLANS for procedure visualization and education outreach.
"We look forward to working with Airservices Australia to visually depict RNP changing how and where aircraft fly," said Paul Dunholter, president, BridgeNet International. "We feel this is a perfect fit of using technology to educate stakeholders on the benefits of satellite-based procedures, showing the difference between existing and future procedures, including the environmental implications such as noise and emissions changes."
Airservices Australia will use BridgeNet's VOLANS 3D software to create flight paths using its flight procedure design tool. This allows a user to quickly create flight paths and procedures which can be then flown in VOLANS, resulting in a graphics-rich visualization of the new procedure. VOLANS displays the noise, emissions, and navigation aids in 3D and from different perspectives, including the pilot, cockpit display, and controller. VOLANS is Internet-based, which does not require the user to dedicate server space or any desktop computers; rather it can be utilized at any work station.
Airservices Australia provides air traffic management and airside services for more than 3 million flights, which enplane approximately 75 million passengers each year in Australia. Airservices Australia is implementing RNP at its nine busiest airports in Australia, including: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Cairns, Canberra, Hobart, Adelaide and Darwin.
