Glee Grabs the Gab but Modern Family Lands the Laughs: NetBase Brand Passion Index Examines Fall TV Premieres
(firmenpresse) - MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/07/11 -- , the Social Media Insight & Analysis company, today announced the latest Brand Passion Index, which measured consumer passion for Fall television premieres. As the season's lineup prepares to kick off, the Index used the NetBase tool to determine which casts rule the remotes of consumers this Fall. Comparing Glee, Gossip Girl, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men and The Office, the Insight Workbench surfaced the passion, opinions and behavior expressed by online consumers across these three key metrics: share of buzz, net sentiment, and passion intensity.
Workbench uncovered that when comparing share of buzz, high-school hit Glee, premiering on September 20th, is at the top of the class. With more than 75% of the overall chatter, FOX's musical sitcom dominated the other four networks. However, when it came to other metrics, Glee took second place with a Passion Intensity score of 76 and fell to the middle of the pack with a Net Sentiment score of 60. Despite having a tiny share of buzz with only 5% of the conversations, ABC's Modern Family, returning to primetime on September 21st, emerged as fall's fan favorite, with high marks across the board, including a Passion Intensity score of 96 and a Net Sentiment score of 87. Heading into its eighth season, NBC's The Office, returning on September 22nd, scraped by with 1% of the overall chatter, a Net Sentiment of 51 and the lowest Passion Intensity score of all five sitcoms, 50.
Verbatim about Glee showed that the teen sitcom, which sings its storylines through popular songs, has polarized online consumers. While some social media users love the music, others complained about how the show has ruined original songs and is overrated.
GLEE Cast's cover is AMAZING!!!
The Glee Christmas Album makes me soooooo happy.
Gahh Glee is so overrated...it's getting on my nerves!
Glee ruins EVERY song
Meanwhile, online consumers raved about Modern Family's ensemble cast and their impeccable comedic timing.
Loves Modern Family!! Guaranteed to make you laugh...
Modern Family is THE best show on tv
'Modern Family's' outstanding cast continues to impress, and even wobbly episodes reliably supply sharp observations and goofball charm
The ensemble cast of "Modern Family" is so uniformly strong that sometimes you forget how great some of the less flashy performers are
So no matter if I'm having the worst day ever... Modern Family will ALWAYS cheer me up... always!
Verbatim about The Office showed that with the departure of Steve Carrell's character, Michael Scott, online consumers find the show to be in a general state of decline.
Especially "The Office" will face a great challenge next season, when it has to continue without longtime lead Steve Carrell
Now when I watch the office reruns it makes me sad that Michael Scott is no more
Unfortunately, I think "The Office" has really gone downhill
