EDB ErgoGroup links up Trondheim municipality

(Oslo, 13 September 2011) Trondheim municipality has signed an agreement with
EDB ErgoGroup for the establishment of a modern broadband network. The network
will link together the municipality's 325 service locations, 11,500 daily users
and 20 000 school children, and will deliver access to the municipality's
electronic tools and services. The agreement runs for five years, and represents
total contract value of NOK 90 million.
The agreement provides for EDB ErgoGroup to upgrade Trondheim municipality's
internal network to a complete high-speed broadband network. All the
municipality's agencies, operations and service locations will be linked
together with 10-100 MB lines. This will represent a major step forward from the
network that Trondheim municipality has used in the past. Service locations will
now have the capacity to use the network for new services such as speech and
video applications.
In addition to the broadband network itself, EDB ErgoGroup will be responsible
for the local area networks at each of Trondheim municipality's 325 service
locations. This will give EDB ErgoGroup responsibility for operations,
maintenance and management of both the cabled and wireless networks at the
authority's schools, nurseries, administration offices and other service
locations.
EDB ErgoGroup will implement new automated tools for its own use to ensure
efficient collaboration with the municipality and to facilitate speedy delivery
and upgrading that may be required by the municipality over the course of the
contract. Key to this will be standardisation and administration in accordance
with the ITIL standard, which is the standard Trondheim municipality applies for
its IT operations.

The agreement with Trondheim municipality runs for five years, and represents
total contract value of NOK 90 million. Implementation will start immediately,
and will be completed over the course of Q1 2012.
