University of Calgary: Gene hunting made easier

(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/12/11 -- Canadian researchers have cracked the genetic codes for a large number of medicinal plant species and have made the gene database available online. Previously, efforts were focused on only a small number of plants.
The University of Calgary's Dr. Peter Facchini is the co-lead of this project with Vincent Martin of Concordia University in Montreal. Facchini will be available to the media on Tues., Sept.13, to speak about the discoveries and demonstrate the new portal. He will have some samples of the plants in his lab. Martin will be available by phone.
