The Henry Ford to Host Free Lecture on Attempted Reagan Assassination
Author Del Quintin Wilber and Retired Secret Service Agent Jerry Parr to Lead Discussion

(firmenpresse) - DEARBORN, MI -- (Marketwire) -- 09/13/11 -- This year marked the 30th anniversary of the failed assassination attempt of President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981. Join The Henry Ford on September 21 at 7 p.m. as it hosts a free lecture with Del Quintin Wilber, author of The New York Times bestseller "Rawhide Down: The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan," and Reagan's head of security detail at the time, retired Secret Service agent Jerry Parr. The event is free, but ticket reservation is required. For more information, call (313)-982-6001 or visit .
The lecture will take place in Henry Ford Museum, near the actual limousine that rushed President Reagan to safety. Parr, who dreamed of joining the service since the age of nine, was head of security detail on that day in 1981 and is the agent seen in historic footage that pushes President Reagan into the limousine at the sound of gun fire. He is credited with being a key figure in saving the president's life.
Del Quintin Wilber is an award-winning author and journalist for The Washington Post. He has chronicled the trial of former Senator Ted Stevens and has written extensively about issues surrounding Guantanamo Bay. Wilber thought of the idea for "Rawhide Down," during his experience attending the hearing of John W. Hinkley, Jr., President Reagan's would-be assassin.
The lecture will culminate with a book signing with Wilber, and "Rawhide Down: The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan" will be available for purchase.
