(firmenpresse) - In January-September 2021, Moscow non-resource non-energy exports to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) countries reached $6.53 billion. The increase is 10.8% compared to the same period last year and 45% compared to 2019. This information was announced by Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of the City of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations.

“Moscow continues strengthening foreign trade relations with the Asia-Pacific countries and increasing sales of non-resource non-energy goods. Since 2019, metropolitan manufacturers have managed to increase shipments by 45%, from $4.5 billion to $ 6.53 billion. If we compare Moscow export performance with other Russian regions, the capital has a clear advantage: the city's share in the total Russian export to the APR countries is 35%,” emphasized the Deputy Mayor.

According to Vladimir Efimov, the USA, China, Japan, Hong Kong, India, the Republic of Korea, and Mexico are among the main importers of the capital's products. In addition, this year Moscow supplies to Vietnam, Myanmar and Canada increased: compared to 2020, the increase was 16.5%, 35.4%, and 74.2%, respectively.

According to the Mosprom Center, among the countries of the Asia-Pacific region that import non-resource goods from the capital, the United States ranks first in terms of purchases from Moscow, ahead of China and Japan. Thus, in January-September of this year, the volume of exports to the United States amounted to almost $2.2 billion, which is 27.8% more than in the same period in 2020.

“The share of the United States in the total volume of exports to the Asia-Pacific countries is growing. Last year it was 29%, this year it is 33.4%. Capital goods of industrial categories, namely mechanical and medical equipment, mixed fertilizers, and optics are in great demand among American buyers. Moscow also increased sales of food products, cocoa, ice cream and various non-alcoholic beverages,” said Alexander Prokhorov, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Government of Moscow.

India is among the top 5 major importers of capital goods and remains an important trading partner of the city. For 9 months of 2021, Moscow's non-resource non-energy exports to the Indian market amounted to $535.80 million. Compared to the same periods in 2020 and 2019, the indicator increased by 64.4% and 36.9%, respectively.

Among the goods supplied to the Republic electrical devices (the volume amounted to $91.54 million), as well as plastics and various products from it (the volume is over $7 million) can be singled out.

In January-September 2021, Moscow also increased supplies to South Korea. For 9 months, the city's non-resource non-energy exports to the Republic in monetary terms reached $477.25 million. The increase is 183.4% compared to 2020.

This year, the following product categories showed export positive dynamics to the country: electrical devices (an increase of 93%), inorganic pigments (2.14%), feed (157.4%) and animal products (32.8%).

The "Mosprom" Center, subordinate to the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, provides individual support for the capital's large and medium-sized businesses. The Center's experts analyze target markets for manufacturers and carry out individual analytics for companies, which helps determine the most effective strategy for a manufacturer to enter foreign markets. Within the framework of the buyer's program, the Center's experts, free of charge, help exporters with the search for counterparties and conduct negotiations with potential buyers abroad, ensure the participation in international exhibitions and business missions.

The Moscow Export Center (MEC) also helps to increase the presence of metropolitan companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Thus, entrepreneurs can enter the Indian markets because of accelerators for exporters. In particular, the graduates of the GoGlobal program, which the MEC implements together with IIDF and co-finances 85% of the cost, were able to launch sales of cloud services, gift card solutions, online proctoring services and other products in India. In addition, for the first time a special acceleration program Tech Export to India was held this year. Thanks to the MEC, 30 tech companies in the city received co-financing in the amount of 90% of the cost and formed a plan to enter the Indian markets. Also, an online business mission was organized for the capital's enterprises in this area. 19 Moscow companies, including manufacturers of construction goods, electronics, machinery and equipment, took part in the event.

The entrepreneurs, who are export-oriented to China, receive a great support. Companies can develop online sales on the largest marketplaces in Asia with the guarantee of a contract: for example, the MEC finances the placement and promotion of products on Tmall, Epinduo.com and Taobao.com, JD.com, Pinduoduo.com, 1688.com. In addition, this year a pilot program was launched to bring Moscow companies to foreign retail chains in the PRC. As a result, 20 food brands were selected for placement on the shelves of Shanghai stores. MEC fully finances listing, promotion, distribution of goods during the year, as well as legal services, customs clearance and logistics. Another 20 food and cosmetics companies, with the support of the MEC, will be able to place their products at the Russian Commodities Pavilion in Chengdu.

In addition, this year, online business missions to countries such as Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam were organized for entrepreneurs. There they were able to directly present products and services to foreign buyers. Also, 14 metropolitan manufacturers of cosmetics took part in an online business mission at the InterCharm Korea exhibition (Seoul). The MEC supported 17 food companies at the largest specialized event Sial China: 202 meetings with partners were held for enterprises. At the same time, the Moscow Export Center finances the entire business component of exhibitions and business missions, including the organization of negotiations and interpretation services.

The Moscow Export Center (MEC), subordinate to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow, helps entrepreneurs to promote their products to foreign markets. One of the key tasks of the MEC is to increase the number of Moscow exporters and implement projects for the effective development of their foreign economic activity.
