Chemical distributor OQEMA expands its network with acquisition of Alpkem, Slovenia
OQEMA expands its business through the acquisition of Alpkem d.o.o., strengthening its inorganic product line, circular economy business and the European infrastructure in South East Europe

Founded as a small family-owned chemical manufacturer, OQEMA is now one of the top-10 chemical distributors in Europe – but we won’t stop here: we recognize growth opportunities, seize them and solidly continue to expand our presence in Europe.
We are proud to announce the acquisition of Alpkem d.o.o. with main offices in Kranj, Slovenia. Alpkem was founded in 1992 by Matjaz Puc. The company will be integrated in OQEMA Slovenia, managed by Marko Strazisar, during the course of the year. With this acquisition, the OQEMA Group is further expanding its infrastructure by focusing on a long-term solution: the network expansion of its own warehouses. In addition, the broad product portfolio of inorganic chemistry complements the existing portfolio in Slovenia perfectly and strengthens OQEMA's Slovenian market position as well as the OQEMA Group’s South East European presence.
László Piry, HUB Director of OQEMA South East Europe, is looking forward to the expansion and development of the business in Slovenia: "Alpkem is in an ideal warehouse location and will offer us opportunities far beyond Slovenia."
Marko Strazisar adds: "As a supplier of inorganic products with a focus on laboratory chemistry, Alpkem has also made a name for itself in waste management, making an effective contribution to the circular economy.
