SLV offers DIN EN ISO 14922 certification for manufacturers of thermally sprayed coatings
(PresseBox) - Thermal spraying processes for the protection of surfaces or optimization of properties are gaining importance in industry. Different techniques are used in manufacturing as well as in maintenance for protection against wear and corrosion in particular. Thermally sprayed coatings are also applied to improve temperature stability and resistance to chemical stress. There are many different applications, e.g. in mechanical engineering, aerospace, in the chemical and petrochemical industry and in offshore industry and steel construction.
The advantage of thermally sprayed coatings is that a number of spray additives can be applied to components of many different materials without needing to fuse or affect the base material.
To meet the high demands on thermally sprayed coatings, companies and their personnel must have the respective certification and training. To achieve this, DIN EN ISO 14922 regulates the necessary quality requirements, comparable with DIN EN ISO 3834 for welding operations. DIN EN ISO 14922 also differentiates between various quality assurance levels (Comprehensive C, Standard S and Elementary E), depending on the requirements for execution.
Whether a company needs DIN EN ISO 14922 certification and which level is necessary is determined by the customer’s requirements or the specifications in the internal quality management system.
As an accredited test and certification body in accordance with the state building code, GSI – Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH (GSI SLV) offers DIN EN ISO 14922 certification. “With DIN EN ISO 14922 certification, a manufacturer can demonstrate that the specifications of the selected quality level of the international (ISO) standard are complied with. The high market acceptance of the certificates issued by GSI SLV all around the world creates a real added value for manufacturers,” says Andre Derks, responsible for certification by the test and certification body. Mr. Derks and his team are ready to answer questions on training technical and testing personnel, about process qualification and the certification of the company itself.
