BCU1 series(firmenpresse) - The new BCU1 series of Hofmann & Vratny offers reliable quality for price-sensitive applications. The milling cutters are designed for use as all-rounders due to proven geometries. Thanks to the new BetaUni Iron universal coating, the BCU1 series is suitable even for machining demanding materials in roughing and finishing operations. A special fine-grain substrate ensures reduced cracking and high resistance to cutting edge breakouts. The special edge preparation ensures a homogeneous cutting edge throughout and thus guarantees a uniform distribution of cutting forces. Wear is controlled and even. Likewise, an improvement of the produced surface on the component is achieved.
Decathlete versus pole vaulter: The BCU1 series compared to individual Expert series.
The tools of the BCU1 series are perfect all-rounders, the Expert models convince as highly specialized milling cutters. The BCU1 milling cutters are virtually the decathletes in the manufacturer's product range, the Expert series were constructed for top-class performance in the respective individual disciplines. Parameters such as material suitability, milling performance, machining volume, tool life and tool costs were examined. The result: The BCU1 series was able to confirm its universal suitability across the board in the internal tests.

BetaUni Iron is an AlCrN-based coating that was developed for demanding universal machining. Thanks to a simple and proven composition, it delivers convincing results for price-sensitive applications. Due to its nanostructuring, the coating enables a wide range of applications and is suitable for use on a wide variety of tool types, such as mould tools, shank tools and roughing tools. As a reliable universal coating, it delivers impressive results when machining non-ferrous materials, stainless steel, steel and cast iron. Even the processing of difficult-to-machine materials such as titanium, Inconel and hardened steel is feasible in the secondary application. It is even possible to machine hard-to-cut materials such as titanium, superalloy and hardened steel in secondary application areas.
