There are several different types of karate classes.
Sport karate classes focus on tournament training, regular karate classes tend to focus on what folks refer to because the three k's, Kumite (sparring), Kata (types) and Kihon (fundamentals).
Then within the sport and conventional karate dojo (training hall), you will find no two the same.

You've got the schools that performs a twenty plus minute warm up and stretch, then you definitely possess the schools that have a twenty second warm up and stretch!
You can find the instructors who concentrate on 'how to kill', then there are people that focus on the philosophy on the ancient masters.
