ID: 66918

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA and TAIPEI, TAIWAN -- (Marketwire) -- 09/19/11 -- Joyent, the global provider of cloud computing software and services, and MiTAC Information Technology Corp. (MiTAC), a worldwide systems integrator, today launched MiCloud, Taiwan's first true public cloud service and a cloud solution bundle for enterprises and service providers. MiCloud is a fully integrated hardware and software solution consisting of MiTAC's 35 years of systems integration experience and TYAN servers, Joyent's comprehensive cloud software solution, SmartDataCenter, and Arista EOS, the world's most advanced network operating system, all bundled together into a single rack solution.

MiTAC will provide the first true public cloud service in Taiwan to enterprises, small and medium sized businesses, and startups that wish to focus on their core business and entrust their IT infrastructure to a competent cloud service provider. The company also plans to use MiCloud internally as a "private cloud" to run its IT projects, such as those for clients in the government, public transportation, education, health care, gaming and ecommerce industries.

MiTAC will also make the solution available to service providers wishing to deliver public cloud services to their customers.

Last week Joyent and MiTAC announced the validation of TYAN's high density and high performance servers for use in Joyent's SmartDataCenter, the cloud computing orchestration and management software used by service providers around the world to deliver public, hybrid and private cloud services to their customers. This validation marries the leading cloud computing software platform with the most performant servers available for rapid deployment.

The Arista Cloud Networking switches connect the TYAN servers and Joyent SmartDataCenter together, enabling dynamic network provisioning, the highest performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, ultra-low latency for the most demanding applications, and extremely low power draw to maximize compute and density within the MiCloud service.

"Since announcing our strategic alliance with Joyent this past April, we've seen a strong interest among Taiwanese service providers and end users in offering and using public cloud services," said Simon Chiang, President of MiTAC. "This initiative meets the needs of enterprises, small- and medium-sized businesses and service providers who want to save on infrastructure cost while enjoying high performance and power savings using the services MiCloud will provide."

"As the leading systems integrator in Greater China, MiTAC is ideally positioned to offer and use cloud services based on Joyent's cloud software," said Dr. Jason Hoffman, founder and chief scientist of Joyent. "Taiwanese businesses that use MiCloud will be using the most advanced cloud solution available."

"Working with Joyent and MiTAC, we are providing the most efficient and effective network software in the world," said Douglas Gourlay, vice president at Arista Networks. "By integrating with the SmartDataCenter OS Arista EOS is able to dynamically provision customers and automate many of the traditionally manual processes for scaling cloud deployments."
