Man Oil Group AG obtains license in Russia and commences work at second TNK-BP refinery in the CIS

Zug, Switzerland, 20 September 2011, – The Russian subsidiary of Man Oil Group AG has been licenced by Russian federal environment and technology authorities to carry out works connected with waste of I-IV hazard class.

Man Oil Group Russia has acquired official approval of effectiveness of its own technology and the quality of the equipment complex for environmentally-friendly treatment of oil waste in time by the opening of the tendering season in Russia (the license for such operations in Ukraine was obtained 31 May 2011).

The state license for collection and management of oil waste in Russia has become another important step in the development of the company. Under the license Man Oil Group has got the right to collect, transport, utilize and store the oil waste of the specified class.

Man Oil Group is the first company to merge classic cleaning methods into a single reliable technology. The complex technology is based on such unique solutions as a non-toxic agent NHS (Natural Hydrocarbon Solution developed by Man Oil Group), as well as a cutting-edge industrial complex for oil sludge treatment STORM-15 which is a joint production of Man Oil Group and JSC ‘Turbogaz’, a market leader in machinery building for the oil and gas industry.

Man Oil Group AG President and CEO, Genadi Man, states: ‘I am pleased to announce that Man Oil Group has finalized its licensing process in Russia. Russian supervising organizations are more conservative than in other counties with oil-based economy and therefore I am very content that my team has been able to handle the red tape, and acquired the state license for our working with hazardous waste just in time. This is important for the company’s operations in Russia, and we are happy to confirm that our technology has been officially approved now.’

The completion of the licensing process gives start to commencement of Man Oil Group’s works on the Ryzan oil refinery (100% TNK-BP asset in Central Russia near Ryazan town, 180 km from Moscow).

Commencement of work at second TNK-BP refinery

In accordance with agreements between the companies, Ryzan oil refinery becomes the first Russian site where Man Oil Group specialists will carry out a number of scoping activities for the situational analysis. After that pilot testing works will follow in order to develop a customised long-term solution for oil waste management for the refinery.

Ryazan oil refinery is the second TNK-BP site serviced by Man Oil Group. Cooperation of Man Oil Group and TNK-BP began earlier this year with a victory of the company in the tender of Lisichansk Refinery (Ukraine).

Ryzan oil refinery has been operating since 1960, and the current project capacity of the refinery is about 17 mln tonnes annually. The refinery occupies area an of 1,300 hectares, and the staff number amounts to 3,600 people.

TNK-BP is one of the leading oil companies in Russia and among the ten largest private oil companies in the world of crude oil production. In 2010 the mining company (excluding shares of Slavneft) amounted to 1.74 mln barrels per day.
