Maxell in conjunction with ROHM are developing a low current consumption power supply module kit using Maxell’s new all-solid-state battery

(PresseBox) - Maxell, Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Keiji Nakamura / hereinafter “Maxell”) has completed a joint development of a low current consumption*1 power supply module kit for evaluation (hereafter “power supply module kit”) incorporating the PSB401010H ceramic packaged all-solid-state battery. The battery boasts a sulfide-based solid electrolyte, high temperature resistance*2, long lifetime*3, high safety*4 characteristics, and a voltage boosting DC-DC converter IC. This is equipped with the Nano Energy™ ultra-low current consumption technology developed by ROHM Co., Ltd. (hereafter “ROHM”). Mass production of the PSB401010H all-solid-state battery will begin in 2023.
This development further facilitates the evolution of all-solid-state battery management solutions, enabling the usage in a wide range of applications from household appliances to industrial equipment, such as monitoring devices and measuring instruments.
Maxell's all-solid-state battery is attracting attention as a next-generation rechargeable battery and by facilitating evaluation of this power supply module kit by companies that are looking toward adopting all-solid-state batteries. Maxell foresees the all-solid-state battery to be adopted by many companies, contributing to the resolution of numerous social problems through Maxell products.
*1 Low current consumption: The quiescent current (at non-switching) of the voltage boosting DC-DC converter IC (BD8B133NVX) is 180nA (typ.). For details, please refer to the Nano Energy™ ultra-low current consumption technology product page.
*2 High temperature resistance: At an environment temperature of up to 125°C, depending on Maxell's test conditions
*3 Long lifetime: Maxell's lifetime prediction result depending on various evaluations and analysis
*4 High safety: No firing or smoking in various safety tests such as 200°C heating, nail penetration, and external short circuiting
