Ireland's WaterWipes Brings Breakthrough Chemical-Free Biodegradable Baby Wipes to US Market

Already gaining popularity in Europe, the new wipe offers parents a chemical-free, 100 percent sustainable cleansing product for their babies' fragile skin. The wipe was recently awarded the prestigious Parent Tested, Parent Approved (PTPA) Seal of Approval in the US. WaterWipes has also been recognized with an 'Allergy UK' accreditation. The product will be available immediately from leading drugstore chains, as well as from several online vendors. To support its US sales, WaterWipes has established a facility in Cincinnati, OH. From there the company will tap into the nearly $1 billion market for baby wipes.
The news was announced today during an Enterprise Ireland-supported trade mission to North Carolina led by Ireland's Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton. Enterprise Ireland is the government organization responsible for the development and growth of Irish businesses in world markets.
With its product, WaterWipes is bringing new innovations to neonatal dermatological hygiene. Conventional wipes often contain surfactants, emollients, bufferers, stabilizers, preservatives and sometimes fragrances. Through frequent diaper changes, these chemicals are applied to a baby's delicate skin as often as 10 times daily. That's up to 70 times every week -- a level of chemical exposure that no adult skin encounters. WaterWipes set out to change this with a wipe that is comprised of 99.9 percent water. A tiny amount of fruit extract (0.1 percent) completes the ingredients and lends a gentle skin conditioning agent to the wipe. This simple blend makes the product the most natural and sustainable wipe of its kind on the market.
