Structural foam molding (SFM) with chemical foaming agent systems from TRAMACO
(PresseBox) - Structural foam molding (SFM for short) is a special process in the field of injection molding. In this process the thermoplastic is foamed in the cavity by adding a foaming agent to the polymer in the injection molding machine. In injection molding, foaming agents are used to avoid sink marks, to produce thick-walled molded parts and/or to save weight. SFM is possible in a wide range of polymers and thus offers diverse application possibilities.
To achieve the desired results it is sufficient to add the foaming agent to the plastic granules in small dosages (usually 0.5 - 3%). The chemical foaming agent can either be pre-blended with the plastic pellets or – even better – added with a separate dosing unit.
Under the brand name TRACEL® TRAMACO develops, produces and distributes chemical, endothermic and exothermic foaming and nucleating agents as well as microspheres. TRAMACO's product portfolio is rounded off by other additives such as slip and mold release agents (TRASIL and TRASLIP), antistatics (TRAPOR and TRASTATIC) and UV stabilizers (TRASTAB).
