Going Over the Edge for Scouting
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/26/11 -- 80 Participants will go "Over the Edge" and rappel down the newly renovated Westin Bonaventure Hotel.
Fundraising in this economy can be rather daunting and sometimes it takes a tall order to help a special cause. On Friday, October 7th, 80 brave souls will have the thrill of a lifetime as they rappel down the side of the iconic Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Each participant must raise $1,500 in pledges to secure their place. Potential participants should go to the Over the Edge link -- -- and create a Kintera fundraising page which will allow their friends, family and colleagues to "sponsor" their rappel. Kintera makes raising the money easy, safe and secure.
All participants need to be 18 years of age by the day of the event and weigh no more than 300 pounds. Prizes will be awarded for the top fundraisers. Expect to see exciting costumes: James Bond, Spider Pig and a few others. Click "Watch The Video" at for a 2 ½ minute video from last year's event.
All participants will be treated like VIPs while their supporters cheer them on during their thrilling descent, and all proceeds will benefit the more than 25,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers and Explorers in the Greater Los Angeles area. Event Sponsors include the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, Angeles Shooting Ranges, the CRP Group, KOST-FM and others.

Seventy-three percent of our participants are from working class families, encompassing some of our country's most impoverished neighborhoods. We offer long-term, comprehensive programs that begin in first grade and continue up to the age of 21. By combining educational and character-building activities with fun, . Scouts are trained in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, in team building and cooperation. We have a waiting list for youth who wish to be Scouts -- one $1,500 rappel sponsors 3 inner city youth for one full year of scouting, including summer camp.
