Christopher Roman, an Authority on REITs, Joins King & Spalding
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/11 -- Christopher Roman has joined King & Spalding as a partner in its tax practice in New York City, the firm announced today. Roman has extensive experience in the tax issues associated with private equity fund formation and investment, real estate investment trusts and regulated investment companies. He joined King & Spalding from Clifford Chance, where he was a partner in its tax practice.

"Chris' experience in the private equity funds space adds to our already strong experience in that area, giving us greater depth in our global funds formation capabilities. In addition, his specialized skills in mortgage and hybrid REITs and in the taxation of RICs complement our extensive work with equity REITs."
Roman also advises on the tax aspects of partnerships, mergers, acquisitions and capital markets transactions, representing issuing companies as well as underwriters. His REIT work also involves REIT securitization structures.
Roman received a J.D. degree from the University of Akron, an LLM degree from New York University and a B.S. degree from Indiana University. He is the chairman of the REIT committee of the American Bar Association and a member of the New York City Bar Association's committee on the taxation of business entities.
