A Secure, Scalable and Redundant Communication System is Essential on the High Seas
(PresseBox) - Thanks to their robustness and reliability, innovaphone’s communications solutions are already widely used in the demanding maritime sector. Following the globally recognized DNV approval TAA0000252 for hardware components, the entire innovaphone PBX communication system with myApps has now been granted DNV system approval in accordance with TAA00003DD. Ship owners, shipping companies, oil platforms and other maritime facilities can use the innovaphone solution on the high seas without having to obtain further time-consuming and cost-intensive permits.
In the maritime world, the demands on communications solutions are far higher than on land: high humidity and high salt content, constant vibrations, strong temperature fluctuations and sometimes explosive environments require a special degree of robustness and resilience. innovaphone is one of the few manufacturers that continues to offer a product portfolio of hardware and software components from a single source. A complete on-premises communications solution can therefore be set up using only innovaphone components and without any other third-party products. “Our PBX is lean and can be installed completely independently in an extremely compact box with low resource requirements, and it is predestined for use in the smallest of spaces, such as on ships or oil platforms,” explains Alexander Geer, Area Sales Manager at innovaphone. “A second, redundant system can be installed on land or directly on board for maximum security, thus guaranteeing the high availability of our PBX.”
DNV is a globally recognized company for quality testing and risk management. Richard Olsson from innovaphone accompanied the extensive DNV certification process to test the resilience of communications systems by conducting, e.g., vibration tests, damp-heat tests, tests regarding the minimum distance to the compass and much more. As Area Sales Manager, Olsson is responsible for the Scandinavian region and thus for many of innovaphone’s maritime installations. In Olsson’s view, the DNV system certification represents an important strategic milestone for business development: “The certification enables us to further expand our presence on the maritime market and tap into new markets – for example, cruise ships, where our applications for the hotel sector can also be ideally utilized.” The open myApps ecosystem allows existing apps to be expanded with customized apps, meaning that tailor-made maritime solutions can also be offered.
