Dish Activations Gearing Up for Launch of Blockbuster Movie Pass
Streaming Movie Service Starts Saturday at $10 per Month
(firmenpresse) - MARION, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 09/29/11 -- Authorized Dish Network retailers expect a groundswell of demand for the newly announced Blockbuster Movie Pass, a subscription service that combines streaming movies, DVDs by mail and unlimited in-store exchanges.
"This isn't just Netflix 2.0. This is a service that goes beyond any pay-per-view or on-demand video any provider has ever offered," said Jeff Barger, satellite marketing manager at Dish Activations, an authorized DISH Network retailer based in Marion, Indiana.
Blockbuster Movie Pass launches Saturday at $10 per month for customers nationwide.
Movie Pass allows customers to stream 3,000 movies to the TV and more than 4,000 movies to the PC. The service bundle also allows subscribers to watch more than 20 premium movie channels from studios like Sony and MGM.
Subscribers can also choose from more than 100,000 DVD movies, TV shows and games that are available by mail. Game options include more than 3,000 video games for the XBOX, XBOX 360, Playstation2, Playstation3 and Nintendo Wii.
Movie Pass also gives customers unlimited exchanges of DVDs and games at participating Blockbuster stores nationwide.
"We are very excited about the new service," Barger said. "Being able to offer things like free movie channels was one thing, but Dish is revolutionizing the at-home cinema game. With Netflix skyrocketing their cost, I would say the Movie Pass could not have come at a better time."
Through Jan. 31, 2012, DISH Network is offering one year of Movie Pass to new customers when they subscribe to America's Top 200 programming package and commit to two years of service. Movie Pass is also included free for three months when new customers subscribe to any core programming package.
DISH Network bought Blockbuster six months ago and the new service represents the integration of Blockbuster's streaming service with DISH Network's satellite TV services. Visit or for more information about Movie Pass.
