"Cortado Corporate Server 3.6 Second Edition" seamlessly integrates smartphones into the company IT and now facilitates spontaneous presentations too
(firmenpresse) - (Berlin, May 2008) Cortado Corporate Server 3.6 Second Edition is now available. One of the highlights of the new version is the multi-use function Present-to-Screen for viewing documents on a laptop or PC screen. Particular emphasis was placed on the seamless integration into company IT environments. The installation has also been greatly simplified in addition to other improved details.
With Present-to-Screen, files of any format can now be sent quickly and simply from a BlackBerry® smartphone to a notebook or PC screen, even if the user forgot the appropriate file at the office. This allows you to hold presentations directly from a smartphone or view documents such as diagrams, blueprints, or complex spreadsheets. The desired presentation can be selected from the company network with the Cortado Explorer. Only a highly compressed view of the presentation is transmitted, providing opportunities for big savings of up to 80 percent in regard to download time and data transfer.
The function offers numerous advantages in comparison to the previous "Print-to-Screen". The user does not have to install special software nor convert to another file format. It is possible to access the files from anywhere.
In order to ensure seamless integration into the company IT, all actions initiated from a BlackBerry smartphone are carried out on the company network as if the user were sitting at his PC. All user rights on the company network also apply when using the Cortado Corporate Server: for example, the rights do not have to be defined again when accessing a network printer.
"Utilizing the existing IT infrastructure is enormously important to our customers. Now we can guarantee a truly exemplary integration. Beyond the use of the rights structure, for example, flawless interaction with other software systems like Tracking and Accounting is also ensured," says Thorsten Hesse, International Sales Manager Cortado Enterprise Solutions.
Furthermore, many details have been revised in the new version: integrated demo licenses make it unnecessary to enter licenses during the demo phase. There is also a new self-test of the client for easier diagnosis of configuration errors. The user search in the Active Directory has been simplified significantly in terms of user-friendliness and a device switch is directly supported by the management console.
The well-known functions of the Cortado Corporate Server have also been further optimized. With the patented technology developed by ThinPrint, BlackBerry users can access the company network, transmit files and manage them with the Cortado Explorer functions, print documents on a Bluetooth or network printer, send documents as a fax, or create and send their own faxes without having to download the documents to the handset. The smartphone functions as a kind of remote control for the company network.
