New Award Presented at the Great American Beer Festival
Black Star Beer Bestows the Ultimate Beer Fan Trophy
(firmenpresse) - DENVER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/01/11 -- Last night a brand new award was given at the 2011 . , the golden lager from the in Whitefish, Montana awarded the biggest beer fan with the ultimate beer fan trophy.
The 466 breweries and 2400 beers being poured at this year's Great American Beer Festival (GABF) wouldn't be here without their die-hard fans. Attracting nearly fifty thousand beer drinkers from across the country, the Great American Beer Festival was the perfect place to begin a new Black Star tradition of honoring beer fans.
"We want beer lovers to know we appreciate each and every one of you," said Minott Wessinger, founder of Black Star Beer. "At the end of the day, beer is about having fun, so we felt it was only appropriate to give a crazy beer fan trophy away to one lucky beer lover."
Black Star Beer and the Great Northern Brewery announced T.J. Schneider of Denver, CO, as this year's ultimate beer fan at 9:30pm in front of their vintage Airstream trailer. The honoree was chosen at random from the thousands of festival-goers who checked in at Black Star's booth to sample the fine beers from the Great Northern Brewery and enjoy the mobile photo booth.
"I am so excited that I won," said T.J. standing next to the 7 foot tall Black Star trophy. "I didn't believe it at first. This trophy is like the Stanley Cup of beers!"
In his acceptance speech through a bullhorn to the GABF crowd, T.J. yelled, "On behalf of all beer lovers around the world, I accept this magnificent trophy with great honor." As the crowed of beer fans cheered, T.J. added, "What means the most about this award is that Black Star Beer is taking the time to recognize and appreciate all beer fans."
There will be many more esteemed awards given during Saturday's session at the Great American Beer Festival, but last night it was beer fans and this year's honoree, T.J. Schneider who were there to take home the gold.
Black Star is a Double Hopped Golden Lager first brewed at the Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish, Montana in 1995. Black Star was created by Minott Wessinger, a fifth generation brewer and great-great grandson of West Coast brewing pioneer Henry Weinhard.
