(PresseBox) - TÜV SÜD is one of the first certification bodies authorized to operate under the CertifHy EU RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) Voluntary Scheme. According to CertifHy, the official recognition marks a significant step forward for the industry, enabling the widespread certification of sustainable hydrogen and e-fuels production.
CertifHy is a specialized certification company for hydrogen and e-fuels. It supports the sustainable production of hydrogen for various applications. The CertifHy EU RFNBO certification system is crucial for promoting the use of renewable fuels derived from non-biological sources, in particular hydrogen and its derivatives. “The recognition of TÜV SÜD and two other certification bodies signifies the readiness of the market to embrace robust and reliable certification, ensuring the integrity and transparency of sustainable hydrogen production,” stated Matthieu Boisson, General Manager at CertifHy.
Only audits conducted by recognized certification bodies will result in a valid CertifHy EU RFNBO Scheme certificate, which is required for issuing Proofs of Sustainability (POS). “TÜV SÜD is now fully operational, offering our expertise to companies and projects seeking certification under the CertifHy EU RFNBO Scheme”, says Klaus Nürnberger, Head of Energy Certification at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. “We are convinced, that our role as independent, third-party auditors is crucial in ensuring compliance with the scheme's stringent requirements.”
CertifHy's selection process mandated that recognized certification bodies demonstrate relevant accreditation, establish a formal partnership with CertifHy, employ auditors certified through the CertifHy Academy, and adhere to standardized auditing and reporting protocols. This rigorous approach ensures only the most qualified entities confirm sustainable hydrogen production under the CertifHy EU RFNBO Scheme, guaranteeing reliability and trust.
