Midland Veterinarians Announce Sibley Nature Center Open House on Saturday, October 8th
(firmenpresse) - MIDLAND, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 10/04/11 -- A to Z Veterinary Clinic announced that the Sibley Nature Center is hosting a Wildlife Open House on Saturday, October 8th. Dr. Jessica Todia will be presenting live native mammals at 9:30am. The Open House is Dr. Todia's first public presentation on her efforts to rehabilitate wildlife and birds. Dr. Todia's presentation will be followed by an 11:00am presentation on venomous snakes and reptiles of the American Southwest, delivered by Michael Price, the Executive Director of the San Angelo Nature Center. Dr. Todia and her husband, Dr. Tommy Wilson, provide wildlife rehabilitations services and general veterinary care at their .
Dr. Jessica Todia, a veterinarian with A to Z, announced that she will be giving a wildlife presentation at the Sibley Nature Center Open House on Saturday, October 8th at 9:30am.
This is Dr. Todia's first public presentation on native mammals and birds. The presentation will include an opossum, raccoon, and cottontail, and it will be held indoors in Sibley's auditorium.
"The Sibley Nature Center Open House is a great way for children of all ages and adults to learn more about the diverse wildlife in our community," said Dr. Todia. "We hope children will gain a greater appreciation and respect for the wildlife, along with our efforts to rehabilitate injured animals. We are also excited to have live snakes at the Open House thanks to Michael Price, the Executive Director of San Angelo Nature Center."
Mr. Price is a serious amateur herpetologist who has an extensive collection of venomous and nonvenomous snakes from the American Southwest. In addition to his work at the San Angelo Nature Center, Mr. Price writes a weekly nature column for the Odessa American.
Dr. Todia, along with the at A to Z Veterinary Clinic, helps rehabilitate local wildlife, such as fawns, raptors and screech owls. She is the only wildlife rehabilitator listed with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Services who is certified to rehabilitate animals in Midland County.
"As wildlife rehabilitator, my goal is to provide a safe place for orphaned or injured animals to heal," said Dr. Todia. "Our has special facilities to safely heal before returning to their natural habitat."
